Family History Videos and Elder Biographies – Los Angeles Videographer

Memorializing the life history of our beloved elders is a favorite project of mine and so worth while. The stories that come to light during these directed live interviews are truly amazing as you’ll soon discover in this short highlight from Don and Kay’s elder biography. A lot of preparation went into the making of this video. Family members help put together a list of topics to discuss well ahead of  time. The filming location is selected, the set prepared and we’re off and filming. It’s a comfortable, easy going session as we wind our way though long-untold stories, a lifetime of wisdom, sage advice and adventures spanning 50 or more years sometimes. Think of someone you love and do this. The trick is to do it while they’re still here.

Bar Mitzvah Reception Video Highlights – You Killed it, Jack!

Fasten your seatbelts! This beautifully edited, high energy bar mitzvah video highlight moves at 100mph. Jack was an amazing 13 year old and never missed a beat. Great dancer, impressive young man. Spent an unusual amount of time editing this highlight because my cousin was the event designer/coordinator who got me the gig. Thanks, Cuz! Great work. The place looked like a million dollars, and it taped very very well. Loved the DJ and MC. Kept the party hoppin’ all night long. Lots of great material for the video. That huge screen on the dance floor made a fabulous animated backdrop. Enjoy the highlight!

South Bay Bar Mitzvah Videography – Highlight

Here’s a delightful video highlight from Jack’s bar mitzvah ceremony comprised of still images taken from the video footage and montaged with music. I like to send these to my clients to enjoy while I’m working on the main body of footage. The venue is Congregation B’nai Tzdek in Costa Mesa, CA. We shot the ceremony with two cameras from our perch above the sanctuary. Family shots were posed by the photographer and shot from the sanctuary level before the ceremony. It’s an interesting process, selecting the photos that is. An image can be extracted from anywhere in the video that looks great, bypassing blinks and the sometimes odd facial expressions that show up when you stop the video on the wrong frame. A software program takes all the images, in this case about 85 of them, and creates the animation with just a few key strokes. Later in the evening we filmed the reception. Great fun. I’ll post again when it’s all edited. Enjoy!

Video Montage – Rabbi Steven Silver, Temple Menorah, Redondo Beach CA

Enjoy this nostalgic montage of still images taken from the video of Rabbi Silver’s retirement gala filmed by local videographer, Marc Gold of 24KT Sound & Video, San Pedro. I’ve worked for over three decades at events with Rabbi Silver, first as a DJ, more recently as a videographer, and have enjoyed every time we’ve been able to work side by side. Temple Menorah of Redondo Beach is like a 2nd home. I’ve entertained at and filmed many events there over the years and look forward to many more. Mazal Tov, Rabbi Silver! Enjoy your well-earned retirement.

Commercial Video Production, South Bay – GenEquity Mortgage

We proudly release our latest video featuring actor and long-time friend, Kevin Paul, as on-camera host in this GenEquity Mortgage commercial filmed in Torrance, CA. Rick and RaeChelle Rockwell, owners of the company, kick off a brand new direction for their business with this 24KT production. Our talented crew included Cameron Tucker on lighting, Brad Nixon on script and direction, Laura Weintraub on makeup, and Marc Gold on camera and post production. Ahead of the shoot I prepped Rick and Shelly at my studio for their first on-camera roles using teleprompter and they performed like veterans! Congratulations one and all on a job well done!

Aaron’s Bar Mitzvah Video Highlight

Temple Beth El of San Pedro and the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach are the venues for Aaron’s extraordinary bar mitzvah video. Ceremony and reception highlights are featured in the clip below along with a one-of-a-kind animated segment at the end created from a single photo and a couple of sound bites that Aaron’s parents sent to me. This is the second bar mitzvah we’ve done for the family at venues that are very familiar. Cantor Elan at Beth El is a long time friend. Years back I taped his wedding to Jodi as well as their daughter’s bat mitzvah. I donate 10% of my fee to the temple as a thank you for their kind referrals. Enjoy the clip.

Extraordinary Bar Mitzvah Video Animation

I wanted something uniquely my own for the ending of Aaron’s bar mitzvah video… something that no other videographer was doing. All I needed to run with this was a head shot of the bar mitzvah boy and a few sound bites in his own voice. Aaron’s parents gladly provided that. I wanted the photo to have life-like facial movements and speak in Aaron’s own voice. I viewed numerous tutorials and consulted with a pro animator to get up to speed with CrazyTalk Animator 3 Pro. Still learning, but here’s what two weeks of practice got me. Super fun to be able to do this with a photograph! Enjoy the animation!

South Bay Corporate Video Production

Enjoy below the medley of images shot on set during a recent corporate video production recorded at GenEquity Mortgage in Torrance, CA. Our very talented crew included on-camera host, Kevin Paul, a long time friend and gifted actor. Kevin has appeared in a number of my commercials through the years. His warm and enthusiastic delivery doesn’t disappoint. Talented writer/director, Brad Nixon, owner of Zennetics moved the production along efficiently. We had Laura Weintraub on makeup and wardrobe, Cameron Tucker on lighting and set design; myself behind the camera, my P.A., Andrew Botz-Zapp on teleprompter and P.A., Carlos Flores.

The owners of GenEquity, Richard and RaeChelle, had little on-camera experience and, initially, it was difficult for them. Ahead of the production we worked on their delivery in my studio while reading from the prompter. The on-set lighting was meticulously designed for each of the three sets we filmed on. As the performances progressed, Brad and I coached and directed, bringing out the best in each actor. Relieved of the stress of having to memorize their lines, the actors performed like pros. Richard and RaeChelle brought in a catered lunch from Lisa’s Bon Appetite. Thank you. It was delicious! All in all, the production was very enjoyable.

I have the highest praise for RaeChelle and Richard. This video was extremely important to them and a lot of future business would depend on it. Fortunately, they had the foresight to invest accordingly to produce exactly what they envisioned. After two weeks in post, the production was completed and happily received by my clients. Once approval is given, we’ll post the video.

Corporate Video Testimonials that look Sharp as a Tack!

The first thing I’ll tell a client who’s contemplating a corporate video testimonial or talking head shot is NEVER put a homemade video on a company website where the company image is important. That video becomes the weakest link on the website and the part by which the company is judged. Professional video testimonials implies, or should imply that time is going to be spent on professional lighting and audio. In our case I also provide a hand-tailored black, pleated drape to create an elegant backdrop. Quality must be consistent with the quality of the brand the company is portraying. Here are a selection of corporate testimonials from a recent conference held in Palos Verdes at Terranea. Enjoy! and see exactly how well this kind of video can be executed.

Over-The-Top Persian Birthday Party Video

Wow! A whole evening of Persian music and dancing to record! I’m in video heaven! Nima’s 30th birthday at Q-Sushi Restaurant in Westlake Village was amazing. My kind of party…wild and  borderline out of control. Such beautiful people to spend an evening with and be able to record the event at the same time. Thanks to my LeTip friend Allen Rubin for the referral that made this video production possible. Here’s the 2.5 minute highlight. Enjoy! (The client has the 65 minute version).
