In keeping with our video production services for business, trade shows and expos here’s a short, fast-paced video highlight of the recent Unified Small Business Alliance (USBA) Community Expo at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. The six hour event brought together several hundred visitors who met with the 55 business representatives at the trade show, masterminded by Aurelio Mattucci of Mattucci Real Estate. Local councilmen, business owners and Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey provide on-camera comments. Lots of action in this video! and some great networking taking place at USBA.

This is one of the first events shot with my new camera, the Sony PXW X200, which performed excellently as expected, and delivered outstanding image and audio quality. Just finished editing the centerpiece video for Toberman Neighborhood Center’s gala banquet and casino night coming up later this month. Several former “Toberman Kids” who grew up with and benefitted from TNC’s many community outreach services appear on the 9 minute long video to reflect on their experiences with the center over the past 40-50 years. TNC provided historic photographs, also incorporated into the video. The video was recorded with my Sony PMW EX-1R, edited in Sony Vegas. Animation sequences were made with Bluff Titler. SURPRISE! In my 30+ year career in video production I’ve never seen anything like this at a live performance – On stage, in the middle of the show, in front of hundreds of spectators at the Redondo Beach Center for Performing Arts, one of the baile folklorico band members pops the question (and a ring). The group is Nuestras Raices performing “Tardeada Mexicana 2015”. My second year recording the group, and what a pleasure. A couple of years ago 🙂 I also danced in a group like this.

Long time corporate client WWPC has been doing their corporate photo montages with me for the past 10 years or so. They LOVE quick, flashy animations at the beginning and end of their videos which they show at their annual international conventions that are held in some of the most luxurious resorts around the world. This one’s destined for Pattaya, Thailand and combines photos from their Punta Cana and Antaya, Turkey conventions. WWPC provides me with digital files for all their photos, usually a couple of hundred or more, along with their favorite music, and expect quick delivery of a stunning montage. Bluf Titler is the software I used for the opening and closing animations along with some effects from videoblocks.com. Enjoy!

The REAL meaning of “giving back to the community” is what it’s all about in this Toberman Neighborhood Center (TNC) Back to School  program attended by 100’s of South Bay residents who received products and services from dozens of local vendors to get local kids and families supported by the Center ready for a healthy and successful school year. Kids received free backpacks loaded with school supplies and judging from the smiles on their faces (and their parents’ faces) everyone went home very happy and ready for a successful school year.

We’ll soon be at work on the next TNC video, a history of the Center based on photos and interviews with former students and staff.

Toberman Neighborhood Center (TNC) continues its focus on empowering children for a productive life by building character, integrity and self reliance as well as sharpening math, reading and social skills through their Summer Academy Program. This video, recorded at the center located at 1st and Grand in San Pedro, CA, opens from a child’s perspective and is characterized by extreme close-ups that look deeply into their eyes where their emotions, hopes and dreams are reflected.  To insure the children’s lines were delivered accurately the director said the line with the desired pronunciation and intonation and asked the child to copy. Amazingly, nearly all the kids did it in one take! Other footage shows the typical daily activities at TNC during this summer program modeled upon the forty developmental assets that the TNC staff build into the curriculum. The meeting provided a great opportunity to gather footage for a pair of promotional videos for the USBA and The Parlor Shop.

I’ve become something of a regular at the USBA (Unified Small Business Alliance) the South Bay-based business networking club founded by Torrance realtor Aurelio Mattucci. Attracting between 40-70 business people to monthly meetings in Torrance, Lomita and Gardena, it’s becoming a good source of business contacts and has led to some video production jobs for me with some of the members.

This recent meeting at The Parlor Shop, seen in the video below,  provided footage for a pair of promotional videos that will be shown at the July meeting of the USBA.
