It’s one of those once-in-a-career moments for this L.A. videographer who happens to love recording live theater to capture San Pedro’s newest celebrity octogenarian, Dottie, gracefully flying across the stage at the Warner Grand Theater after the performance of “The Wizard of Oz”, an honor bestowed upon her by the show’s director and owner of Encore Entertainers, Summer Dey Cacciagioni. So comfortable, so poised in Glinda’s bubble (the Good Witch of the North, if you remember the play), Dottie waved her magic wand back and forth saluting the audience as she was carried aloft. Tracee lures Janet into her amazing wedding day surprise captured on video:

There was no escape for Janet, definitely the shyer of the two, as Tracee persisted in keeping her in the limelight at their Terranea wedding reception. Her over-the-top surprise had Janet running for the door (and everyone else rolling in the aisle). This is one wedding video production that will remain permanently embedded in my mind. What a couple of great people!! Love you!

I recorded their wedding ceremony at Wayfarers Chapel earlier in the day, then met them at Terranea for their reception where this extraordinary expression of affection took place. You gotta love this just for it’s sheer spontaniety.

My neighbor demanded they take my dog away.

Her neighbor complained, and when Lynne’s home town city council demanded a hearing to determine whether of not she could keep her beloved German Shepherd, “Nala”, I made this touching video for her to be shown at the hearing to help her make a strong case for keeping her dog. It needed to be a very persuasive video to move the bureaucrats at city hall. Lynne and I discussed how the video would be produced, what it needed to contain to be convincing and touching at the same time. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Over-The-Top, Off the Charts video highlight from Lyndsay & Josh’s wedding reception:

From the first minute I started recording their wedding reception I knew this video highlight would be in the works. Couldn’t wait to get it posted! Lyndsay and Josh’s off-the-wall guests and the DJ’s hot music made for some very exciting footage. Here’s a tight little edit cut for blazing high energy. Video and music cuts are razor sharp. Enjoy! There’s nothing quite like the group of over-the-top guests at Lyndsay and Josh’s wedding reception to make a truly sensational video. Their reception followed a beautiful ceremony at Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes, CA, and rocked the Manhattan Beach Marriott ballroom for 5 solid hours! We recorded their event with two cameras, one providing an elevated view of the dance floor and some great b-roll footage to intercut with the close-up camera.

I’ve known Katrina practically her entire life, but she’s never looked more radiant than on her wedding day! Here’s a gallery of wedding day images I made from her video. Katrina is the daughter of my long time friend, Jazzy Jackson, AKA DJ Jazzy, so it was a special pleasure for me to produce the wedding video. See if you can find the picture of the people looking for the noisy parrots in the trees above them during the ceremony. It’s in there twice, as are a couple of others. Also couldn’t figure out how to get the full width of the pics into the word press gallery; it cropped all of them. Comment if you know how.

The beauty of extracting stills from a wedding video is in the number of available images to select from, literally thousands of possibilities all of which can be cropped and color corrected to perfection. Coming from HD video, nice looking 4×6’s and even 5×7’s can be printed. Anything larger than that benefits greatly from the much larger files from the still photographer’s camera. It was a pleasure to work again with Lana and Sal of Caught in the Moment Photography, Long Beach, CA, who posed many of the images below as I recorded the photo shoot to video. Catering was by Critic’s Choice and the decor was embellished by Royal Elegance Designs, all of us members of the Wedding & Special Events Assoc. in San Pedro. CONGRATS Katrina and Billy!
